Dietician Swati Kalyankar suggests a few Do's and Don'ts
that one should be aware of.
Though these points may seem like basic information,
adhering to them can lead to miraculous results.
Whether you are trying to lose or gain weight! 


Do's.

  1.  Make sure the room is you are exercising in is adequately ventilated.
  2. Work out with an AC or fan switched on or in open air.
  3.  Sip some water while exercising.
  4. Use the stairs instead of lift .
  5. Eat slowly . Chew food well.
  6.  Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water in a day.
  7. For best results follow the prescribed diet just the way it is.
  8. Wear only cotton clothes while working out .

Don'ts

  1. Do not exercise immediately after meals.
  2. Do not exercise on soft bed. Use a firm durrie or mat on the floor.
  3. Do not skip meals. 
  4. Do not leave long gaps between meals . Starving is detrimental to your health 
  5. Do not watch TV while eating meals. 
  6. Do not sleep immediately after meals. 
  7. Do not take vitamins , supplements with out consulting your doctor.
  8. Do not use a vehicle for short distances. Instead, walk.

Myth - Lime and honey everyday, helps you lose weight.
Fact - Lime and honey help in relieving constipation. Only consuming lime and honey cannot bring about weight loss.


Myth - Sweating during exercise is essential for weight loss.
Fact - Sweating is only losing water no accumulated fat. Drinking water will replace the lost fluids.

Myth - To bring about perfect weight you have to exercise early mornings.
Fact - You can exercise any time of the day for weight loss.

Myth - Starving will hasten weight loss.
Fact - You will lose the good lean body mass and the fat will remain intact.

Myth - If you are a vegetarian you will stay slimmer.
Fact - Vegetarians are just as prone to weight gain as non - vegetarians.

Myth - One has to give up eating foods like rice, banana, etc. to lose weight.
Fact - No, weight gain depends on total calorie intake in a day.
